Almost

I almost made it out without crying. I get closer each time. It's always that blasted Drisk - if I hadn't stuck my head over the window of his classroom to get a last glimpse of him... And then that stinkin' Bernadin. Ugh. Kids.

I am finally back in Boston. It was tortuous night of delays and bad weather and missed buses and hunger and thirst. I left the orphanage at 9am yesterday and I arrived at my apartment in Jamaica Plain at 9am today. We were delayed out of PAP, delayed out of Miami, and I ended up having to take the 3:30am bus from New York to Boston. I just woke up from a 3 hour nap which was delightful.

The part that wasn't delightful was the completely spontaneous and unexpected cry that overwhelmed me as I was turning my computer on. I hadn't really cried yet, except for a little moment in the HFC hallway, and I guess it had to come out. If anyone of you have not been to Haiti, let me officially warn you: DO NOT GO! You will become infected with the same disease that I have and find yourself crying at random moments about silly things like trees and potable tap water. For those of you who have already been contaminated: you have all my sympathy and you are welcome in my Haiti hospice whenever you please.

Welcome home Kez! Of course it seems to me like you are home when you are in Haiti too, but you know what I mean, right? ;)
